Sovaris Expeditions
Exploring Leadership in the Natural World
Sovaris Expeditions has a unique purpose behind its expeditions. In our field work, we always seek to advance some aspect of our scientific or medical research objectives. This is derived from the primary aerospace medicine and human performance work of our parent organization Sovaris Aerospace in Boulder, Colorado. Our approach is unique in that it brings the perspective of working with NASA, Special Forces, S.W.A.T., NFL, NBA, Olympic athletes, UFC, and others who perform in challenging operating environments. Our areas of research, training, and clinical application usually encompass the following:
- Personalized Medicine: Analyzing molecular complexity to develop individualized training measures, therapeutics, and countermeasures
- Human Performance: Optimizing human performance in remote, challenging, or low resource environments. This includes studying methods to extend operations in the field and extend career longevity
- Team Cohesion: Building skills in individuals and small groups that facilitate collaboration, problem solving, and thriving group dynamics
- Leadership: Focus on leadership styles that elevate others and facilitate the principle that a true leader is to grow/inspire/train more leaders
- Wilderness Medicine: We work to advance and refine the skills of wilderness medicine, exploring components that may one day be translational to long-duration space habitation, such as the Moon and Mars
Alpine Expeditions and High-Altitude Ascent
Kilimanjaro Research Expedition with the Mayo Clinic. Our Alpine Expeditions Usually Involve Scientific and Medical Research
Our Mayo Clinic Collaboration to Ascend Kilimanjaro was Focused on Complex Physiologic Measures, Molecular Countermeasures, and the Study of Team Cohesion
See: Myocardial Adaptability in Young and Older-Aged Sea-Level Habitants Sojourning at Mt Kilimanjaro
Next up, Mt. Everest Base Camp

Sea Kayaking Expeditions
Orca, Humpback Whale, Dolphin
Our Efforts are Focused on Close Encounters in the Wild with Orcas, Humpback Whales, and Dolphins, using Sea Kayaks
Our Encounters are Always Voluntary, Relying Upon the Animals Choosing to Interact with Us
We Try to Understand the Physical, Emotional, and Cognitive Conditions that Encourage These Encounters
We also Teach Leadership and Team Cohesion on These Expeditions
Jaguar Conservation Expedition
Mamoni Valley Jaguar Project Cloud Forest of Panama
We Support and Collaborate With Researchers and Their Effort to Preserve the Jaguars in the Mamoní Valley Preserve
The Research Examines Stepping-Stone Habitats that Enable Jaguar Movement Through the Narrowest Stretch of the Isthmus of Panama, also know as the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor
Collaborations also Involve Geoversity

National Geographic Jungle Expedition, Costa Rica
National Geographic Oceanic Expedition

Rocky Mountain Wilderness, Wyoming
Providing Wilderness Experiences for Active Duty Military, Military Veterans, and Wounded Warriors
We and Our Special Forces Colleagues are Currently Building a Permanent Habitat Where Our Military Friends Can Go to Find Refuge and Sanctuary
Here, We also Provide Team Cohesion and Leadership Training. We also Explore New Ideas in Human Performance
Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado
Each Fall the Elk Migrate from the High Country to Lower Elevations
This is the Period When the Rut Takes Place, Where Elk Gather in Herds
Here, the Bulls Engage in Dramatic Fights for the Right to Mate and Send Out their Signature Bugling Sounds

Celestial Events Expedition
These Expeditions Seek to Follow Unique Celestial Events, which are Often Visible in Remote Locations
Among our Most Stirring of These was the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse
Next up: 2020 Argentina Solar Eclipse
Suborbital Spaceflight Expedition
Sovaris Supports the Medical and Scientific Aspects of Commercial Spaceflight
We Support Individual Preparation for Citizen Astronauts Entering Space. This Includes Personalized Countermeasure Development to Improve the Exploration Experience
Our leadership Chairs Various Committees on Suborbital Crew and Passenger Medical Standards

Lunar Expeditions
In the Near Future, Citizen Space Travelers Will be Able to Travel to the Moon
While Commercial Lunar Missions for Individuals is Further Away than Suborbital Flights, Sovaris Team Members are Developing Tools to Help Optimize Performance, Health, and Safety for Those First Explorers who Travel to the Moon
We also Support Those Who Will Soon Choose to Go to Commercial Orbital Space Habitats
